Our mission is to honor fire service personnel's ultimate sacrifices by gathering, categorizing, disseminating and preserving the lessons learned from past incidents to help prevent similar reoccurrences. HONOR THEIR SACRIFICES wishes to support and compliment other efforts to prevent avoidable firefighter line-of-duty-deaths (LODDs).

Our History

HONOR THEIR SACRIFICES is a not-for-profit corporation that was founded in Texas in 2008. Inspired by a fire that took the life of nine Charleston (SC) firefighters, several firefighters combined their efforts to create a free, user friendly on-line database containing the lessons learned from firefighter Line-of-Duty-Deaths (LODDs). Our founders felt the best way to honor the "Charleston 9" (as well as others) was to remove the obstacles that hinder the fire service's ability to easily access and learn from the lessons line-of-duty-deaths (LODDs) bring us.
